Paulette DeHart has been involved with the Literacy Missions ministry of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board since 1991. Thirteen of those years, she served as a volunteer in the capacity of teacher/director of her church; then in 1996, as a trainer of new volunteers who desired to start ESL ministries in their respective churches or associations; and then in 2001, as one of the 13 Regional Coordinators for the State Convention.
In 2003, she was appointed as the Georgia Baptist Literacy Missions missionary to encourage existing ministries, stimulate additional outreach, and help the thousands of active volunteers throughout Georgia, in any way she can, with each of the six tracks of the Literacy Missions ministry: Adult Reading & Writing (ARW); English as a Foreign Language (EFL); English as a Second Language (ESL); Tutoring Children & Youth (TCY); Alfalit (ARW in Spanish for functionally illiterate Spanish-speakers); and Citizenship (CIT).
