Mary Laughman served as president of Georgia Woman’s Missionary Union from 2009-2013 and currently serves as Georgia WMU state prayer coordinator, encouraging others to develop the spiritual disciplines of prayer and Bible study as they grow in their relationship with Christ, and the support of missions work through focused prayer. As state prayer coordinator, Mary has had the opportunity to travel to many countries, leading teams in prayerwalking and visiting with missionaries. Her responsibilities as prayer coordinator include making women aware of the prayer needs through the “Heart’s Called to Pray” partnerships and mobilizing women for prayer. She is an active member of Sunset Hills Baptist Church in Douglasville, and loves to spend time with her two sons and their families, including five grandchildren.
Praying with Purpose, Persistence, and Passion
Do we sometimes quit praying about something because we feel God is silent, or do we just give up because we do not see any answers? God’s Word is full of examples of those who could have given up, but did not. Join me for a look at some of these examples, and how our prayer life can become powerful instead of powerless. We will also learn about a special opportunity to pray for missionary work in Israel through “Hearts Called to Pray.”
